DESIGNING CROWDNESS

This project was completed for the design studio, Ideogramming: A WaterFire Cave in Providence Place. The studio was informed by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave and a popular event in Providence called WaterFire. The main objective was to reimagine the concept of the cave as an ideogram and the cave as interior with consideration for the WaterFire event. The final product of this studio is inspired by the notion of crowd as experienced through Waterfire and uses ideogramming as a starting point to develop a system that describes ‘crowdness.’  The architectural intervention embodies the established system.
